January 22, 2019 This is a place where write ups of various things will happen. These writings will have a very strong focus on videogames and anime, especially any that came to be in the 1980s and 1990s. I've always been a fan of the 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit consoles and handhelds. I also insist on saying stuff like 8-bit rather than Generation followed by a number. Meanwhile, series like Slayers, Record of Lodoss War, and Macross have always tickled my fancy. There is a lot about those decades that I hold dear. As such, I want to write about some of what made them so special to me. But why this admittedly quite dated approach to making a web site? Why not start a YouTube channel or Twitch stream like the cool kids? Well, I've done them before and never warmed up to them. My voice is also pretty weak, so talking for extended periods like one would on those platforms isn't an option for me. I'm usually hoarse after five minutes or so. As such, this little web site is a chance to do things the old fashion way. I spent a lot of time doing sites like this in the late 90s and I kinda miss it. When I write these articles and slap these pages together, it makes me really happy. I don't care if it's a dated way of doing things. Passersby can take it or leave it. The articles are intended as lighthearted reviews / overviews that will hopefully draw people's attention to anime and videogames from the past that folks may or not remember. With any luck, it'll get readers curious to track them down and check them out for themselves, introducing them to all sorts of shows and games of previous decades. So, here we are with a web site dedicated to a bygone era on an old timey platform. It definitely won't be for everyone but I like this stuff and want to be very self-indulgent with this. If this sounds like your cup of tea, by all means consider bookmarking the site and coming by for a visit every now and then. - IroIro Note: I do have a Twitter thingie. It's mostly to notify those interested that the site has been updated. If this is something useful to you, feel free to follow. |
